Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 med Russet potatoes cut into french fries
  • tablespoon Avocado Oil 20ml
  • 1 pinch Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Thoroughly wash potatoes. Cut into desired french fry size and place into a cold bowl of water (for at least whilst chopping) See notes*. Drain potatoes, dry thoroughly and use a paper towel to stamped out any extra moisture once the potatoes have been cut up. See video.
  • Evenly coat uncooked french fries in avocado oil using your hands to mix through. Place in a singular layer in your air fryer tray and cook for 10 minutes on high. Turn over and cook further 10 minutes.
  • Serve in a bowl and add salt as required and serve immediately.

💭Pro Tips
  • Cut - The thicker the cut of potato the longer they will require to cook and vice versa. Also, try and cut potatoes uniformly to help cook evenly. Note: smaller pieces will brown quicker and be crispier.
  • Soaking potatoes in water whilst you are cutting them up helps to release starch which makes them crispier on the outside. The longer the soaking the better, try and leave them for at least 30 minutes. When I am in a rush, I have soaked them for around 15 minutes and they still turned out good.
  • To reheat these homemade french fries, simply place them back into the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes on medium.
💡What to serve with?
Air fried french fries are wonderful to eat on their own with a garlic dipping sauce or shawarma sauce, however, I love to use the in my vegan shawarma rolls, or as a side with falafel
