Super crunchy air-fryer pasta chips covered in a tasty seasoning, an addictive snack or appetiser.
Whilst pasta chips aren't something new, it is surely doing the rounds in Tiktok at the moment. I had to jump on board this pasta chips train.
Whenever my mother would make vermicelli rice, should fry up some extra vermicelli noodles (separately) and sprinkle some sugar on top.
It was the simplest quick sweet treat, that my siblings and I would gobble up. The same concept to this trending snack.
This pasta chips recipe is vegan. You can however make yours with any flavours you like.

✔️What You’ll Need
Pasta - select your favourite bite-sized pasta. I’ve cooked with many and so far the shells pasta have been my favourite. I always opt for gluten-free pasta* with no egg.
Oil - I have used avocado oil* to air fry with, you can choose your preferred oil.
Seasoning - at the basic level, salt needs to be added to your taste, then build it up from there. I like to add herbs too - I have also done these with zaatar seasoning.
Nutritional Yeast* - gives a wonderful cheese flavour. This is a non-dairy product, perfect for vegans.
Here’s how to make pasta chips
Step 1 - Cook pasta as per instructions. Place cooked pasta into a colander and run cold water through it.
Step 2 - In a bowl, toss the pasta through the olive oil and all seasoning ingredients.
Step 3 - Place pasta into the air fryer* and fry on high for 16-18 minutes, stir pasta halfway through. Serve warm or cold.
Make a sweet pasta chip snack. I have done this using a mixture or tahini and molasses and then once the pasta chips are cooked, I toss the pasta chips through cinnamon. You can view this quick vid here.
Deep-fried - Pasta chips can also be prepared this way if desired. Simple follow steps 1 & 2 and then place into hot oil and fry until golden.
Oven - these pasta chips can also be made in the oven, simply follow steps 1 & 2 and then place them into the oven at 200C (400F) and bake until golden. Place the pasta in a single layer onto a tray.
Seasoning -the beauty about these air fryer pasta chips is that you can select your favourite seasoning - I have had someone say they will try these with rosemary.
Always cook pasta al-dante, which is generally 1 minute less than per packet instructions. This will result in perfectly cooked pasta that isn’t mushy.
As air fryers differ, initially cook for 12 minutes and check to see how fried they are, then determine how many more minutes they may need. This air fryer* is similar to the one I have at home.
Stirring pasta halfway through the frying process will help them cook more evenly.
If using an air fryer with a tray, you might need to take out some of the cooked pasta and allow others to cook a little longer.

No, nothing like eating raw pasta which has a chewy hard consistency. They are super crunchy like eating thick chips.
Select bite-sized pasta; bow-tie, spiral, penne or shells, as these will give you individual chips. Avoid long pasta such as fettuccini, spaghetti, linguine etcetera.
