My family's Lebanese food never quite made it into English. Not properly. So I started writing it down myself, the way it was actually cooked at home.
These are those recipes. Plant-based without losing what makes them Lebanese. Some you'll already know. Some have never had an English name until now and that's usually where the good stuff is. Start wherever you like.
Not-So-Common Lebanese Food
These are the dishes that never made it onto a restaurant menu, the ones you've never seen translated, the ones I had to ask my mother to explain twice. If you want to understand Lebanese food beyond the version everyone already knows, start here.
What Everyone's Searching For
The foods people look for first!
Mains
Rishta, mujadara, kousa mahshi. The dishes that were never a side in my house, they were dinner. These are the recipes people come back for.
Soups and Stews
A bowl of adas bi hamod or lentil soup is what a Lebanese kitchen smells like in winter. These are the soups that taught me what comfort food actually means.
Appetizers and Sides
No Lebanese table serves one dish at a time. These are the mezze, the things that show up first and disappear fastest.
Breakfast
Musabaha and foul moudamas are not gentle breakfasts, they're the ones that keep you full until dinner. This is how a Lebanese morning actually starts.
Salads
Lebanese salads are never just a side. Tabbouleh and fattoush carry their own weight at the table.
Looking for something specific?
Desserts
Baklava, mahalabia, the desserts that show up at every Lebanese celebration, made plant-based without losing what makes them worth the trip to the kitchen.
All Lebanese Recipes
This is where you'll find all of my Lebanese Recipes. Everything from breakfast to dinner and beyond. These are the dishes I've known all my life, adapted, and perfected for a plant-based lifestyle, and I can't wait for you to try them all!
