A silky smooth banana avocado almond milk smoothie that is ready in five minutes, plant-based and naturally sweetened.
If you’re into plant based smoothies, you’re in for a treat! There are countless combinations to make a smoothie using fruit and veggies to load up on good nutrition and fiber. And this tasty recipe is a great example.
Have you ever tried avocado in a smoothie? The result is silky smooth and feels luxurious, with its surprising texture.
What I especially love about this avocado banana almond milk smoothie is that it is very easy to prepare and satiating, making it perfect for breakfast, a delicious way to start the day.
Ingredients Highlight
Here are notes on some of the ingredients, the complete list with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.
In most smoothies I make using bananas, I always ensure they are ripe to minimize adding additional sweetness. For example, in my mango strawberry with peanut butter version, I also use a single Medjool date to add sweetness. Break the banana into pieces before adding it to the blender.
Ripe avocado in a smoothie creates the ultimate silky smoothie experience. It can be added directly into the blender without chopping up. I like using a quarter of a small to medium avocado.
For added plant-powered protein, I use a small amount of almond butter and milk, keeping this smoothie dairy-free. Here’s a quick video of how to make almond milk. If you’d like to make a smoothie without milk, try this dragon fruit and coconut water one, it’s so pretty!
This next ingredient is optional, but I like to throw in a spoonful of Moringa powder for a caffeine-free energy booster among other health benefits. You can swap this out for matcha powder.
Janelle's Tips
- Any blender will work. However, a high powered blender is the quickest and will yield a smoother/silkier result. If your blender doesn’t have a smoothie setting, just blend until all the contents are blended.
- Feel free to adjust the quantities of the ingredients to suit your liking. Generally speaking, I rarely measure when making smoothies as they are so easy to prepare.
- Almond milk can be replaced with any type of dairy free milk. You can adjust the thickness of this smoothie by adding less or more.
- If you like this smoothie recipe, you will love my banana peach flavored one.
