Have you ever tried avocado in a smoothie? The result is silky smooth. It’s so good and luxurious, you ought to do yourself the favor and get onto this stat. Avocado smoothies are the best!

What I especially love about this avocado banana smoothie is that it is very easy to prepare and it’s filling, especially good for breakfast, a delicious way to start the day.

😋Why you’ll love this recipe

  • Made with natural ingredients
  • Adjust the sweetness as you please with no added refined sugar
  • Made in minutes, perfect as a grab-n-go breakfast.
  • Vegan, gluten free, soy free, dairy free and corn free
  • Adaptable, you can add or minus ingredients to suit your liking

✔️What You’ll Need

🥘 Ingredients Notes

Banana should be ripe and cut into pieces, this helps with blending. 1 small banana is all that is required. Another banana smoothie to check out is my delicious mango strawberry banana smoothie.

Avocado should be ripe and can be added directly into the blender without chopping up. A quarter of a small-medium avocado is used.

Medjool date needs to be pitted prior to adding into the blender. Only one is required, as they do add quite a bit of sweetness. However, you can adjust the amount used to suit your taste.

Almond butter is great for adding protein. This can be bought at your local supermarket or online (affiliate link). Try and buy one with no added ingredients, i.e., 100% almonds. I like to add one heaping tablespoon.

Almond milk can be store-bought or homemade. If you’d like to try making your own, here’s a quick video of how to make almond milk.

Cinnamon has a number of health benefits and also adds a lovely mild spicy sweetness.

Moringa powder (optional) can be found at your local health store or online (affiliate link) and is fabulous for caffeine free energy booster among other health benefits. A little of this powder goes a long way.

The flavour of moringa is masked within this dairy free smoothie.

Moringa is also great as a moringa latte if you prefer a caffeine-free latte.

Ice cubes are used to help thicken this smoothie as fresh fruit has been used. If you are using frozen fruit, you can skip adding ice.

🔪 Step by step guide

Step 1 - Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend for 2 minutes or until smooth.

Step 2 - Pour the banana avocado smoothie into a cup and enjoy it immediately or take it away with you on the go.

⭐Pro Tips

Any blender will work, however, a high powered blender (affiliate link) is the quickest and will yield a smoother/silkier result. If your blender doesn’t have a smoothie setting, just blend until all the contents are blended.

Feel free to adjust the quantities of the ingredients to suit your liking.

Almond milk can be replaced with any type of milk. You can adjust the thickness of this smoothie but adding less or more almond milk.

🥑Variations

The following are suggestions, however, you can adjust/replace/omit any ingredient of this smoothie.

Maple syrup, rice malt syrup or agave syrup can be used rather than medjool dates to sweeten this dairy free smoothie.

Cinnamon can be replaced with nutmeg, allspice, clove or any other spice that is suitable with sweet foods.

Moringa powder can be swapped with matcha powder.

If you’re into protein powders, feel free to add a scoop of your preferred flavor.

❓FAQ

What does adding avocado to a smoothie do?

Adding avocados to a smoothie gives it a next level creaminess, which is silky smooth. If you are trying to avoid all kinds of milk, including nut milk, try adding avocado to your smoothie with some coconut water and the result is still creamy. In addition to the delicious texture, avocados are also rich in nutrients adding many health benefits.
