I was out with a friend, walking and admiring nature in her local bushland. Whenever I am outdoors I am always on the lookout for new plants and wild foods I can forage. I made the comment that the one thing I have never come across was wild berries.
Well, I couldn’t believe what happened next, I came across a massive bush of blackberries. It was so exciting, we stopped and picked some, they were super delicious.
This berrylicious strawberry blackberry banana smoothie is inspired by this walk, I can’t wait to go back and pick some more.

✔️What You'll Need
🥘 Ingredients Notes
Banana should be ripe (a few brown spots on the skin), 1 small banana is all that is required.
Blackberries can be fresh or frozen. Only half a cup is needed, if you can’t buy them, swap them out with other available berries. These berries are high in vitamins and fiber, amongst other health benefits.
Strawberries can be fresh or frozen, you only need 1 cup.
Medjool date (optional) needs to be pitted prior to adding into the blender. Only one is required, as they do add quite a bit of sweetness. Leave it out if you find this smoothie sweet enough without it.
Plain dairy free yogurt you can add your preferred plain vegan yogurt. Half a cup is needed and makes this vegan smoothie the right consistency.
Filtered water will help achieve a slurpable consistency. You can adjust this depending on the thickness of the yogurt you use, as they all vary.
A lot of these ingredients can be used in many other plant based smoothies.
🔪 Step By Step Guide
Step 1 - Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend for 2 minutes or until smooth.
Step 2 - Pour into a cup and enjoy immediately or take away with you.
⭐Pro Tips
A combination of fresh and frozen fruit will help keep this smoothie creamy and thick. I recommend making sure either the banana or berries are frozen. There’s no hard rule for this.
Any blender will work, however, a high powered blender (affiliate link) is the quickest and will yield a smoother result. If your blender doesn’t have a smoothie setting, just blend until all the contents are blended.
Feel free to adjust the quantities of the ingredients to suit your liking.
🍓Variations
The following are suggestions, you can adjust/replace/omit any ingredients
Dairy-free yogurt can be swapped with dairy-free milk such as hemp seed milk. I recommend starting with half a cup or less and adding more until the right consistency is achieved.
Ice cubes can be added (handful) this can help to thicken this almond milk smoothie and also make it colder.
Leafy greens can be added by a small handful (e.g., arugula/rocket leaves) Note - this will alter the color of this smoothie and maybe slightly the taste.
All-natural nut butters can also be added. Try peanut, almond, or cashew butters.
Maple syrup (or any natural liquid sweetener) can be used rather than Medjool date to sweeten this vegan smoothie.
❓FAQ
Yes, absolutely. Replace the yogurt with your preferred milk, in this case, dairy free milk is ideal. Start by adding a small amount of milk and add more if needed to adjust the consistency.
