A mango pineapple banana smoothie that is quick, sweet and refreshing.
During the warmer seasons, I enjoy creating smoothies that are plant-based.
They are incredibly convenient to prepare and offer countless flavor combinations. Whether kept simple or enriched with complementary ingredients, the possibilities are endless!
Ingredients Highlight
The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.
For this recipe, I've kept it fairly simple by using accessible frozen and fresh fruits. I used fresh ripe pineapple and banana pieces and added frozen mango to create a thick and creamy, yogurt-free smoothie.
I like the base of mangoes with bananas it's a nice tropical coupling, so I sometimes use it with strawberries and peanut butter for another tasty variation.
Anyway, back to this recipe, I always add the fruit into the food processor first and then any additional ingredients like maca powder for a malt flavor (yum!) and chia seeds for added natural protein.
I then pour in the dairy-free milk, such as almond milk, to help everything blend together, the milk tends to trickle in between the fruit pieces and helps with blending, loosening the bottom, where foods tend to get stuck.
This sequence works well for all my smoothies, like my peach and banana combination.
Janelle's Tips
If you are using all fresh ingredients, start by adding half of the milk amount and then adjust to your desired thickness. You can also add ice cubes for a thicker consistency.
If you want to avoid using any type of milk, try using coconut water for a lighter smoothie, like this dragon fruit and coconut water one.
If you enjoy pineapple smoothies, you might also like this pina colada one.
