Prepare this invigorating and fizzy basil lemonade mocktail with ease. It's a revitalizing fusion of vibrant basil and lemons, exuding a blend of tangy subtle sweetness with every sip. Crafted from freshly squeezed lemons, fresh basil leaves, and gently sweetened naturally.

If you enjoy making herb-infused lemonades at home, you'll definitely love my other lemonade flavors.

Try my mint lemonade, also known as lemonana, my perfect pitcher drink of homemade orangeade, or my pink rose lemonade.

About The Ingredients

a lemon, basil leaves and a measuring cup of maple syrup

The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.

To make a refreshing basil lemonade mocktail, start with freshly squeezed lemon juice as the base. For the basil, use fresh leaves, picking them off any hard stems for the best flavor.

To give this mocktail its fizz, use club soda (soda water). If you prefer a still drink, you can easily swap the soda for filtered cold water.

I like to use maple syrup to naturally sweeten this sweet basil lemon refresher, but you can also use a sugar syrup, like brown sugar syrup , if that’s more your style.

The Steps

To prepare your basil lemonade mocktail, start by cutting the lemons in half and using a citrus juicer to extract the juice. Pick enough basil leaves off the stems to fill about 1 cup (loosely packed).

In a blender, combine the lemon juice, basil leaves, and maple syrup, blending on high for at least one minute until the basil is fully incorporated and the mixture turns a light green.

Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, then add club soda. Stir well to combine.

Pour the lemonade over ice-filled glasses, and garnish with lemon zest, basil sprigs, or lemon slices.

Janelle’s Tips

Prepare the basil and lemon juice ahead of time by only blending the lemon juice, fresh basil leaves, and maple syrup. Keep this in the fridge for up to five days and only add the club soda when you are ready to serve this refreshing summer drink.

Do not add ice to the pitcher, unless you are serving this immediately. Ice will dilute the drink quickly, especially on a hot day.

Make ice cubes out of the sweetened basil and lemon juice for extra flavor rather than just plain ice cubes. These will need to be made ahead.

This is so so good. I don’t know why I never thought of making this before as I have a lot of both basil and lemons growing in the garden. Thanks for the idea Janelle.
