Making homemade hemp seed milk is wonderfully creamy, true white, and ready in minutes using only two ingredients, it couldn’t be easier.
About The Ingredients
The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.
I prefer to make plain DIY hemp seed milk so I can use it in both sweet and savory dishes. I typically use organic hemp seeds and filtered water in a 1:8 ratio.
Hemp seeds, also known as hemp hearts, have a nutty flavor and are very creamy. You can find them at health food stores, most major supermarkets, or buy hemp seeds online here.
Optional Ingredients For Minor Flavor Changes
For sweetness, I alternate between adding one pitted Medjool date or a small amount of maple syrup, keeping it as natural as possible.
Occasionally, I add a pinch of Celtic salt to enhance the milk’s sweetness.
Vanilla is great if you plan to use the hemp milk in desserts or baking, but avoid it if you will be cooking with the milk.
Equipment You'll Need
You will need a high-speed blender and an organic cotton cheesecloth (the link will take you the one I use) or nut bag to strain the liquid from the pulp.
Use the leftover pulp in a smoothie, like a blackberry strawberry banana smoothie.
Delicious Ways To Enjoy
It can be used just like any other milk, try making plant based strawberry milk, plant based blueberry milk, plant based cocoa milk or even a vegan dalgona coffee.
Heat it up to create a hot beverage like a moringa latte or a thick hot chocolate.
