I'm an avid supporter of homemade dips, keeping them as wholesome as possible

I've been really into making homemade dips lately, aiming to create 1-2 variations per week.

I'm totally obsessed with white beans and have been loving my butter beans dip and great northern bean dip.

About The Ingredients

The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.

black beans, avocado, salt, onion powder, garlic clove, cilantro, lime juice and apple cider vinegar in bowls

For a change, I decided to make a dip with black beans. I wanted to keep it as fresh as possible, so I used mainly raw ingredients for flavor and added a small amount of avocado to enhance the creaminess without using oil.

Depending on what I have available in the fridge/pantry, I'll alternate between adding fresh green chili or jalapeño (I like to keep the seeds in, this is not necessary) and freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice.

The small amount of apple cider vinegar that I added improved the overall flavor of the dip, so I recommend not skipping this.

Janelle's Tip

You can adjust the ingredients to your preference. Just make sure to drain the black beans well before blending them to get the right consistency.

To serve, I like to top it with fresh diced chili and tomato, (corn and red onion would be nice too), and then dip in with my favorite corn chips or crackers (try my homemade chickpea flour crackers). So good!

The next dip you should try is this amazing cilantro lime hummus.
