Seitan Roasts
What is seitan?
Seitan is made out of hydrated gluten (main protein found in wheat), it is used as a meat substitute by vegans. Seitan is also referred to as wheat gluten*.
The word Seitan is pronounced as “say-tan” and was coined in Japan in 1961. However wheat gluten dates back to the 6th century in China.
These Seitan roasts are either sliced, shredded or stuffed.
Loaf Roasts
Loaf roasts are those that are prepared and shaped as a singular item which can then be sliced and served.
Vegan Wellingtons
Based off the beef wellington, which is originally an English pie. These vegan wellingtons contain a form of vegetables or faux meat encased in a golden pastry.
Vegetable Roasts
These vegetable roasts use a whole vegetable as the main centrepiece for a meal.
