A vegan dalgona coffee is a whipped foam coffee made with 3 ingredients, and it can be enjoyed either hot or cold in just 3 easy steps.

What is Dalgona Coffee?
Dalgona coffee took the internet by storm overnight, although foam coffee has been a beloved drink in various countries for decades. You might even find that your granny has a fondness for it.
The two delicious layers of Dalgona coffee consist of a velvety and slightly bitter foam on the top which is light and airy, while the bottom layer is made up of milk, which can be served either hot or cold.
Personally, I find this beverage particularly delightful during the warmer months, it's a refreshing treat with a caffeine hit, otherwise one of my go-to coffees is Arabic coffee.
For the times when I want something caffeine free I like to enjoy homemade strawberry milk, homemade blueberry milk or this pink drink recipe.

About The Ingredients

The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.
This delightful drink only requires three ingredients: instant coffee, boiling water, and granulated sugar. I prefer using Moccona classic instant coffee, and I've found that using any type granulated sugar, whether it's raw, white, brown, or coconut, helps create a wonderfully thick foam.
To complete the drink, pour your preferred cold milk, such as unsweetened almond milk or homemade hemp milk, into a mug and top it with the velvety foam.
Variations
There are numerous ways to customize your Dalgona coffee experience. Serve it cold or warm, or froth it up for a delightful treat.
For an indulgent iced coffee variation, consider adding a scoop of vanilla nice cream to the cold milk, along with a scoop of ice.
Additionally, you can enhance the flavor by sprinkling your favorite spices, such as nutmeg or cinnamon, or transform it into a mocha by adding cocoa powder and stirring it through the milk.
If you're feeling particularly adventurous, consider adding syrups like caramel or vanilla, or indulge in some lavender syrup.
The Steps

Janelle's Tips
I like using an immersion blender with the whisk attachment to create the coffee stiff peaks, this can be done by hand mixer or by hand but will require a little more effort.
You can make the foam in advance and store it in the fridge for up to a day. However, I've noticed that on the second day, it does start to water down. Nevertheless, it's still good enough to use.
If you enjoy preparing flavored drinks, you might want to give a delightful taro milk tea a try. Alternatively, if you're a fan of Nespresso machines, be sure to check out this list of Nespresso recipes for some brewing inspiration.

FAQ
Dalgona coffee offers a unique combination of bitterness and creaminess, akin to a mousse, it's a bold flavor. However, you can offset the bitterness by stirring it into your preferred milk and adding a sweetener to suit your taste. Ultimately, it's a rich, velvety smooth drink that's truly delightful.
