A dragon fruit coconut water smoothie that is refreshingly light, all-natural, and made with fresh and frozen fruit. It's sweetened with a date and takes just five minutes to prepare.

How beautiful are dragon fruits!
Have you ever seen one? They are absolutely stunning, with their white or pink flesh speckled with tiny flavorful black seeds.
Also known as pitaya, they have a mild fragrant flavor. I personally find the pink ones a tad sweeter, which is why I used them in this dragon fruit smoothie.
This smoothie is not only cold and satisfying but it's an excellent way to incorporate more fruit into your diet. For a summery twist, try my smoothie variation with peach.
Ingredients Highlight
The complete list of ingredients with measurements, can be found in the full recipe card below.
I usually use frozen ripe bananas when making any plant-based smoothies, but this time I used frozen dragon fruit and fresh bananas. I always try to use a combination of both frozen and fresh fruit to ensure my smoothies turn out thick.
If you're using fresh dragon fruit and banana, you can also add a cup of ice to help achieve that nice consistency.
Instead of almond milk, which I normally use, like in this avo and banana combo, I added coconut water and I was super happy with the results.
Janelle's Tips
If you've tried any of my other smoothie recipes, you may have noticed that I like to use a single Medjool date as a natural sweetener. This is optional, so do a taste test to see if you prefer to add it in.
Another delicious smoothie to try is this pineapple banana and mango combination.
